On Honesty

Honesty. A really sexy character trait anyone can own. The ability to tell the truth even if it hurts, in a kind and considerate way.

Honesty is going to take you places in life that you never could have dreamed and it’s the easiest thing you can practice in order to be happy, successful and fulfilled. Honesty is part of the foundation of my core values and principles. Honesty cuts through deception and knifes its way through deceit and lies. Honesty leads to a fulfilling, free life.

Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It’s about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want and what you need to live your most authentic life.  Honesty promotes openness, empowers us and enables us to develop consistency in how we present the facts. Honesty sharpens our perception and allows us to observe everything around us with clarity.

You may not want to hear it, but at least you can rest assured I will say it to you directly! Candid honesty can hurt feelings, but if coming from a place of compassionately trying to make things better, it should be respected. It is far better than talking behind a person's back. I am willing to take the heat for a better tomorrow. Please do call me on my own bs (constructively)! That's how we grow. If I react poorly at first, that's the human in me. I will try to be open to it, and will always consider what you said, even if it takes a bit to get past my defenses.

Honesty is one of the characters traits I value the most in people. If someone lies or is out of integrity with me or I see them out of integrity with themselves is a total turn off. If I care about them I will let them know. If I don’t I will let them go.

Love,

Barbara
